In the cold of a St. Louis winter, a horrific act of violence occurred that would ultimately claim the life of Terri Lynne Lawrence, a 42-year-old Black / African American woman. On December 5, 2007, she was discovered inside a desolate, abandoned building at the intersection of Academy and Ridge. She had been the victim of a brutal assault and was left for dead in the vacant structure.
Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Lawrence for medical treatment.
For four months, she fought to recover from the grievous injuries she sustained in the attack. Despite her efforts and the care she received, the severity of the assault proved to be too much. On April 8, 2008, Terri Lynne Lawrence succumbed to the injuries inflicted upon her, and her case became a homicide investigation.
In the years following her death, the case has remained unsolved. Law enforcement officials have made public appeals for information that might lead to the person or persons responsible for this heinous crime.
