Loretta Lewis, a 28-year-old woman, tragically lost her life on May 20, 2005. Her body was discovered floating in a canal near Jennings, Louisiana. Loretta, who was of African American descent, was the first victim in a series of unsolved murders that later became known as the 'Jeff Davis 8' or 'Jennings 8.' These cases involved the deaths of eight women between 2005 and 2009, all of whom were found in or around Jefferson Davis Parish.
