Patricia "Patsy" Miller, a 41-year-old nurse, was found murdered in her Melbourne, Florida apartment on April 20, 1988. Her death was a result of a brutal attack that involved sexual assault, blunt-force trauma, and arson. James Phillip Barnes, who was later identified as her murderer, invaded her home through a bedroom window. He confronted her at knifepoint, sexually assaulted her, and attacked her with a hammer.
