Inspector Frank Chapman, a dedicated lawman with a long history of service, met a tragic end on September 23, 1906, in Lajitas, Texas. Chapman, who had served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal, a Texas Ranger, and a Mounted Customs Inspector, was investigating reports of Mexican smugglers causing disturbances in the town.
