On February 25, 1981, John T. McCarthy, a 24-year-old male officer with the Dallas Police Department, was tragically shot and killed. Officer McCarthy and his partner were responding to a suspicious vehicle parked near White Rock Lake. They observed two partially clothed individuals in the car and instructed them to leave.
