Miguel Sotelo-Trujillo, a 22-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on April 20, 2017, in Dallas, TX. He was killed in the 1000 block of Regal Row around 11:30 p.m. Sotelo-Trujillo and his brother were leaving a street race event when they were confronted by a man in a dark green Chevy Silverado with 32-inch rims. The confrontation escalated when the man, later identified as Alex Thomas Delrio, leaned out of his vehicle with an AR-15 type assault rifle and struck Sotelo-Trujillo with the butt of the rifle. As Sotelo-Trujillo and his brother attempted to drive away, Delrio fired several rounds at their truck, hitting Sotelo-Trujillo, who later died at the hospital.

The case remained unsolved for nearly six months until Dallas police released dash-cam footage of the incident to the public in hopes of generating leads. The footage helped identify Delrio as the suspect, and he was arrested on October 2, 2017. Delrio was charged with murder and held on a $300,000 bond. He had two previous arrests in Dallas County, one for possession of marijuana and another for harassment of a public servant.

The investigation into Sotelo-Trujillo's death highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement in solving cold cases and the importance of community involvement in providing tips and information. The Dallas Police Department continues to work on other unsolved murder cases, hoping that public cooperation and surveillance footage will help bring more suspects to justice.

Sotelo-Trujillo was described by police as a good, hardworking young man with no criminal record. His death was a tragic loss, and the efforts to bring his killer to justice were a testament to the dedication of the Dallas police and the community's support in solving the case.
