Russell Lynn Boyd, a 25-year-old male highway patrolman with the Texas Department of Public Safety, was tragically shot and killed on October 11, 1983, in Fort Bend County, Texas. Trooper Boyd was killed while performing his duties after stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation. The suspect, Eliseo Hernandez Moreno, had already gone on a violent spree earlier that day, killing six other individuals before encountering Trooper Boyd.
