Bill Earl Jones, a 41-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, served as the Chief of Police for the Lorenzo Police Department in Texas. On March 21, 1985, he responded to a domestic disturbance call where a man had shot his son-in-law. As Chief Jones walked to the rear of the house, the suspect emerged and shot him as well. The suspect then committed suicide. Chief Jones was transported to a hospital in Lubbock, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on March 23, 1985.
