Edwyn Joseph Gorrell, a 34-year-old male of unspecified ethnicity, was a dedicated officer with the San Antonio Police Department. On February 22, 1988, while attempting to arrest a suspect, Patrolman Gorrell was shot and critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries four months later, on July 5, 1988, after being in a coma.
