Shirley Williams, a 40-year-old African-American woman, was found dead on March 10, 1991, in Oak Cliff, Texas. Shirley was a sex worker, and her body was discovered near an elementary school. The manner of her death was particularly gruesome; she had been shot to death, and her eyes had been surgically removed. This detail, along with similar cases in the area, led authorities to believe that Shirley was a victim of a serial killer.
