Linda Suzie Malek, a 28-year-old woman from Brazoria, Texas, tragically lost her life on January 21, 1998. She was the victim of a brutal home invasion that took place in Bay City, Matagorda County. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Linda was asleep in her bed with her two young children, aged 6 and 8.
Two masked intruders, Kenneth Ray Parr and his accomplice Michael Wayne Jimenez, broke into Linda's trailer home. Armed with handguns, they forced Linda to the floor at gunpoint while they ransacked the house looking for valuables. During the invasion, Linda was raped and shot twice in the head by Parr. Her children, who were lying beside her, witnessed the horrifying events.
The intruders fled the scene, taking Linda's car keys and some of her belongings. The children managed to call their grandmother for help after the attackers left. The stolen items were later recovered from the apartment of Monica Silva, Parr's girlfriend, who testified that Parr had confessed the burglary and murder to her.
Kenneth Ray Parr was arrested and charged with the crime. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. Michael Wayne Jimenez, who was a juvenile at the time of the crime, received a life sentence. Parr was executed by lethal injection on August 15, 2007.
