Abel Renteria Marquez, a 32-year-old Hispanic male and a police officer with the Odessa Police Department, tragically died on September 12, 2007. He was critically wounded four days earlier, on September 8, 2007, when he and two fellow officers, Corporal Scott Gardner and Corporal Arlie Jones, responded to a domestic disturbance call.
