The suspect, Larry Neil White, opened fire on the officers as they attempted to gain entry into the home.
Corporal Jones and Corporal Gardner were killed instantly, while Corporal Marquez was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Larry Neil White, a 58-year-old male, was charged with the murder of the three officers. However, he passed away from cancer on May 31, 2011, before he could stand trial. The case was marked by multiple delays due to White's illness, and he never faced justice in a court of law.
