Jimmy Edward Porras, a 33-year-old man from Odessa, Texas, was tragically killed on October 13, 2015. Jimmy was born on November 7, 1981, and served a tour of duty in the US Marines during the Iraq War. After his military service, he pursued studies in criminal justice and worked in the oilfield as a derrick hand. He was passionate about playing soccer and was a loving family man.
The investigation into Jimmy's death revealed that Matthew Armindariz was responsible for his murder.
Armindariz was found guilty of the murder in January 2019 and was sentenced to life in prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys William Prasher and Jose Castillo, while Lawrence L. Barber, Jr. defended Armindariz.

He is remembered fondly by his wife Vanessa Porras, his parents Lupe Nichols and Oscar Porras, his children Randy, Edwin, Lorenzo, Aracely, and Yanali Porras, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services with military honors were held on October 17, 2015, at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.
