On August 13, 2010, Christine McClendon, a 78-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in Lufkin, Texas. According to reports, law enforcement officers responded to a domestic disturbance at her residence. Upon arrival, they encountered Maurell McClendon, an 88-year-old African American man, armed with a shotgun on the front porch.
