Kimberly Deshay Carter, a 29-year-old African American woman from Arlington, Texas, tragically lost her life on December 28, 2010. She was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, Barnes Samuel Nettles, 38, during a domestic dispute. Officer Jillian Michelle Smith, 24, who was responding to the domestic assault call, was also killed by Nettles before he took his own life.
