On August 10, 2021, Zoneta Little, a 38-year-old woman from Arlington, Texas, tragically lost her life due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cottoncreek Drive. When the Arlington Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Zoneta Little in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation revealed that just prior to the shooting, Zoneta Little's 19-year-old daughter, Lauran McCutcheon, and a 23-year-old man, Bobby Davis, were involved in a domestic dispute. The dispute escalated into a physical struggle over a gun that was inside Davis's vehicle. Detectives believe that during the struggle, the gun discharged, striking Zoneta Little who was standing nearby.
Following the investigation, Lauran McCutcheon was arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter in connection to her mother's death. She turned herself in at the Arlington City Jail on August 16, 2021, and was later transferred to the Tarrant County Jail on a $5,000 bond. Additionally, Bobby Davis was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, as the gun used in the shooting was reported stolen.
The case brought significant attention to the issue of domestic violence and the dangers associated with firearms. The Arlington Police Department and the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office worked closely to ensure that justice was served for Zoneta Little. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences that domestic disputes and firearms can have on families and communities.
