Trinidad Salazar Jr., a 33-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on January 15, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred following an argument over roof shingles. According to reports, Trinidad Salazar Jr. had gone to the home of Ociel Garcia, a 38-year-old male, to either retrieve the shingles or get more money for them. The two men had previously argued over the sale of the shingles. When Salazar arrived at Garcia's house, Garcia told him to take the shingles back.
As Salazar was loading the shingles onto his truck, the argument escalated. Garcia then pulled out a .40 caliber Glock pistol and fired a warning shot into the ground. When Salazar lunged toward him, Garcia fired a second, fatal shot. Salazar did not have a weapon at the time of the shooting.
Garcia's wife was home at the time and witnessed the shooting. She immediately dialed 911 to call for help. Garcia was arrested and booked for murder. He admitted to the police that Salazar did not have a weapon during the altercation. Garcia was held on a $500,000 bond. The case highlighted the tragic consequences of a dispute that escalated into violence, resulting in the loss of a young man's life.
