Donald Kovar, a 43-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically shot and killed on May 14, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. Kovar was working as a security guard at a business located at 4639 Irving Boulevard when the incident occurred. The location was targeted by two men during a robbery attempt. Kovar was shot during the robbery and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Kovar's death led to the arrest of Rico Lara, a 31-year-old male, who was charged with capital murder.
Lara was already in jail on unrelated charges when he was identified as a suspect in Kovar's murder. Physical evidence, including DNA from a cigarette butt found at the scene, and witness identification from a photo lineup, tied Lara to the crime. Lara is currently being held on a $1 million bond.
A second suspect, known only as "Primo," has not been identified. He is described as a Latin male, approximately 30 to 35 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. The investigation into Kovar's murder is ongoing, with authorities continuing to search for "Primo" and gather additional evidence related to the case.
