Xavier Joseph Cordero Jr., a 20-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically murdered on June 18, 2014, in Bexar County, Texas. Xavier, who was born on June 30, 1993, was a beloved member of his community, known for his humor, kindness, and passion for basketball. He graduated from Earl Warren High School in 2011 and was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. At the time of his death, he was working at a clothing retail shop in San Antonio and living with his grandmother.
The investigation into Xavier's death revealed that he was lured to an apartment complex on the southeast side of San Antonio by Antoinette Martinez, who promised him sex. Once there, Martinez and her accomplice, Cameo Marcus Clines, confronted Xavier at gunpoint, placed him in the trunk of his own vehicle, and transported him to a cow pasture. There, they shot him multiple times and left his body on the banks of an irrigation pond. Xavier's body was discovered on June 18, 2014, in the 17200 block of Donop Road.
Antoinette Martinez, 19, was arrested on a charge of capital murder after confessing to robbing and killing Xavier. She admitted to luring Xavier to her apartment and, along with Clines, shooting him multiple times. Martinez was also involved in a separate robbery case, where she and a co-worker stole a night deposit from a Burger King where she worked. Cameo Marcus Clines, also 19, was taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery case and later confessed to his involvement in Xavier's murder. Both Martinez and Clines faced capital murder charges, with their bonds set at $1 million each.
The case drew significant attention due to Xavier's father being a detective with the San Antonio Police Department. The investigation continued as authorities searched for additional evidence and potential accomplices.
