Javier Vega Jr., a 36-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, was a dedicated agent of the United States Border Patrol. On August 3, 2014, while on an off-duty trip near Santa Monica, Texas, Vega was tragically shot and killed by Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.
