Dixie Mendez, a 24-year-old Hispanic woman, tragically lost her life on August 17, 2014, in Houston, Texas. She was attending a friend's birthday party when she was struck by a stray bullet while sleeping in a back room. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. at a 15-year-old's birthday celebration, where approximately 50 people were present.
