On December 13, 2024, 45-year-old Faridah Davis was fatally shot while seated in her vehicle outside a convenience store at 4718 Lockwood Drive in northeast Houston. She had driven to the location with her husband and two other family members. While her husband was inside the store, an employee asked him to leave. Upon returning to the vehicle and as they began to exit the parking lot, an unknown male fired shots into the car, striking Ms. Davis. The vehicle rolled a short distance before coming to a stop. Her husband exited the vehicle and fled on foot, at which point a second male suspect fired shots at him; however, he was not injured. The two family members in the back seat were also unharmed.

Following the incident, Houston police released surveillance photos of the two suspects and appealed to the public for assistance in identifying them. The investigation led to the identification of two 16-year-old male suspects. One was arrested on December 16, and the other on December 18. Both have been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Due to their juvenile status, their names have not been released. They are currently in custody at the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.

Ms. Davis was transported to a nearby hospital following the shooting, where she was pronounced deceased. Her death has prompted an outpouring of grief from the community, with many expressing their condolences and sharing memories of her. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing, as authorities continue to seek information to understand the motive behind this tragic event.
