Joe Angel Martinez Jr., a 38-year-old man from Amarillo, Texas, died on January 16, 2015, in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. Martinez shot and killed Monica Barrientos, 29, before taking his own life. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Southeast 13th Avenue in downtown Amarillo. Police were dispatched to the scene after neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming and shots fired.
