Deanna Stewart, a 38-year-old woman from El Paso, Texas, tragically passed away on April 10, 2015. She was a caring mother of three and a new grandmother who was known for being the glue that held her family together. Stewart's death was a result of a shooting in her home on Jerry Lewis Way in East El Paso. Her daughter discovered her body when she returned home from school and found the doors cracked open, which was unusual.
Greg Dudley, Stewart's common-law husband, was arrested and
charged with her murder. The trial revealed a tumultuous relationship marked by domestic violence, jealousy, and allegations of infidelity. Dudley was found guilty of shooting Stewart in the back during an argument. The court heard testimonies from Stewart's daughters, who described the abusive environment they lived in. One of the daughters even made a 911 call years before Stewart's death, reporting Dudley biting her mother until she bled.
During the trial, the defense argued that Stewart's death could have been a result of a burglary or a drug deal gone wrong, as she allegedly used cocaine. However, the prosecution maintained that Dudley intentionally killed Stewart out of jealousy and paranoia. The jury ultimately convicted Dudley of murder, and he was sentenced to 80 years in prison and fined $10,000.
