On May 17, 2015, Bernard Canady, a 45-year-old man from Lamesa, Texas, was fatally shot. The incident occurred after Lamesa police responded to a disturbance call on Eighth Street. When officers arrived, they found Bernard Canady shot and immediately transported him to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
