On July 23, 2015, the body of 19-year-old Jarrod Dewayne Black, a black male, was discovered inside a 2004 Nissan Altima in the 100 block of Forestbrook Drive in Lewisville, Texas. The vehicle was found stopped in the middle of the road, and witnesses reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene and entering a nearby wooded area. The suspects were described as either two black men or a black man and woman.
Despite an extensive search by the Lewisville Police Department, including the use of a K9 unit, the suspects were not located.

On August 26, 2015, Lewisville Police identified one of the suspects in the murder of Jarrod Dewayne Black. A Capital Murder warrant was issued for the arrest of 19-year-old Cariea Lashae McCord, a black female, in connection with the crime. McCord was described as being 5 feet, six inches tall, and weighing 130 pounds. Despite the issuance of the warrant, McCord's whereabouts remained unknown at that time.
