Armando Mazariegos, a 52-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed during an attempted robbery in Houston, Texas, on November 6, 2015. The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. when Mazariegos, his wife, and his grandson were returning to their townhome in the 9800 block of United Drive at W. Sam Houston Parkway. As they pulled into the parking lot, an unknown black male suspect approached Mazariegos and demanded money.
While Mazariegos was reaching for cash, the suspect shot him in the chest. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. Mazariegos was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died. His wife and grandson were not injured in the incident.
The Houston Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. Officers D. Stark and G. Sullivan from the HPD Homicide Division reported that the suspect was an unknown black male who approached Mazariegos as he was getting out of his car. The suspect demanded money, and when Mazariegos reached into his pocket, the suspect fired a shot, killing him. The suspect immediately fled the scene on foot. The HPD Homicide Division urged anyone with information about the case to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Armando Mazariegos.
