Golphin had just finished pumping gas and was returning to his car when he was shot multiple times in the back by an unknown assailant who had entered his vehicle while he was inside the store.
The suspect, described as a Black male approximately 20 to 23 years old, with a curly afro shaved on the sides, fled the scene on foot. Surveillance footage captured the suspect entering Golphin's car and later running away after the shooting. Despite the release of the surveillance video and a detailed description of the suspect, no arrests have been made in connection with Golphin's murder.

Golphin was a 2005 graduate of North Mesquite High School and earned an associate's degree from El Centro College of Dallas. He was known to have a passion for music, fashion, and photography. His untimely death has left a void in the lives of those who knew him and the community at large.
