On August 14, 2020, 18-year-old Alfredo Navarette was tragically shot and killed in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, TX. Navarette, a young Hispanic male, was found around 11:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of Celeste Drive near Lake June Road. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival. Witnesses reported seeing the shooter flee the scene in a black SUV, possibly a Mitsubishi.
Following the incident, Dallas police launched an investigation and collected multiple witness statements.
On August 17, 2020, two teenagers were arrested in connection with Navarette's murder. Alexis Carrasco, 17, and an unnamed 15-year-old boy were taken into custody. According to arrest warrant affidavits, the teenagers allegedly stole Navarette's 2016 Jeep Cherokee before the 15-year-old shot him. Carrasco confessed to her involvement in setting up the robbery and was present in the car when the shooting occurred.
Both Carrasco and the 15-year-old were charged with capital murder. Carrasco was booked into the Lew Sterrett Jail, while the juvenile was taken to the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center. The investigation is ongoing, and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an indictment.
