On June 8, 2016, 18-year-old Luis Huerta was tragically shot and killed at League of Women Voters Park in Baytown, Texas. Luis, who was Hispanic, was with his twin brother Juan when they encountered two acquaintances at the park. During the encounter, 17-year-old Guillermo Tommy Mena pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the brothers. In the ensuing struggle, Luis was shot and killed at the scene, while Juan was shot multiple times and hospitalized in stable condition.
