Joseph Rene Macias, a 19-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on August 7, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred in the 6500 block of Tahoka Boulevard, where Macias was fatally shot during a botched drug deal. The suspect, Eric Cavazos, 18, had arranged to buy marijuana from Macias and two other teens via Snapchat.

Cavazos fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended on his way to Los Angeles via Greyhound bus. The investigation revealed that Cavazos had been messaging the teens for about an hour and a half before the meeting, and 911 calls were made three minutes after the shooting.
