Isidro Zarate, a 39-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, was tragically killed on November 25, 2016. Zarate, who was a father of four, was shot in the neck after he intervened to help a woman who was being assaulted by her partner in the parking lot of a Walmart on Vance Jackson Road. Witnesses reported that Zarate drove up to the scene, rolled down his window, and yelled at the attacker to stop. In response, the attacker, later identified as Teles Mandan Juarez, shot Zarate at close range.
