Charles Morton "Buddy" Acker, a 96-year-old Caucasian male from Houston, TX, passed away on December 30, 2016. He was well-known in his community and had a passion for golf, skeet shooting, hunting, dancing, and music. Charles had a business called Acker Electronics in Huntsville, TX, until 1974. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Acker, and her family.

On the morning of December 30, 2016, firefighters responded to a house fire and discovered the bodies of Charles Acker, his daughter Vicki Flanery, and her husband David Flanery. According to police sources, David Flanery killed his wife and her father before taking his own life. The incident shocked the community, as the family was known to be peaceful and well-liked.
No suspects were sought outside of the home, and the investigation concluded that the deaths were a result of the murder-suicide. ATF agents removed numerous boxes of ammunition and rifles from the home, but no further criminal activity was suspected.
