On January 8, 2017, George Joseph Martinez, a 32-year-old Hispanic male from San Antonio, Texas, was involved in a fatal altercation at a gas station located at Interstate 35 and Starlight Terrace. Martinez, accompanied by his girlfriend, Holly Darkentell, and her two daughters, aged 8 and 10, had stopped at the Valero gas station for snacks and fuel before heading to a movie.
