Martin Gonzalez, a 23-year-old man from Converse, TX, was tragically murdered on January 29, 2017. His death was the result of a brutal attack that involved being tied up, having his head wrapped in cellophane, and ultimately being shot in the head. His body was discovered more than a week later inside the trunk of his car, which was parked at an apartment complex in Universal City.
The investigation into Martin Gonzalez's death led to the arrest of Ashton Lomas, who confessed to the
murder. According to Lomas, he took Gonzalez to a home in Converse, where he and two other men beat and robbed him before Lomas was ordered to shoot him and dispose of his body. Universal City Police also issued warrants for the arrest of three additional suspects believed to be involved in the crime.
Martin Gonzalez's wife, Brittany Gonzalez, expressed relief upon learning of Lomas's arrest and hoped that the remaining suspects would also be apprehended. She described her late husband as a great person who did not deserve such a fate. The community honored Martin Gonzalez with a memorial service, attended by family and friends.
The case remains under investigation, with law enforcement continuing to pursue the remaining suspects. The tragic loss of Martin Gonzalez has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, and his family continues to seek justice for his untimely death.
