Dulce Maria Mavil Everts, a 40-year-old woman of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on February 20, 2017, at her residence in Galveston, Texas. She was found dead alongside her husband, Byron Everts II, who was 91 years old. The couple was discovered by Byron's son around 11 a.m. that morning. According to the Galveston medical examiner's office, Dulce was shot in the chest, and Byron shot himself in the chest. This incident was later determined to be a murder-suicide.
