Pedro Aguilar, a 47-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on March 11, 2017, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when Pedro, along with his wife and 10-year-old daughter, was returning home to their apartment complex located in the 800 block of Richcrest Drive. As they parked their car near the complex's front gate, they were approached by two men.
One of the suspects, described as a male wearing a black hoodie, pulled Pedro from his car in an attempt to carjack him. The suspect, armed with a handgun, shot and killed Pedro during the struggle. The second suspect, described as a male wearing a long sleeve white shirt, was also involved in the incident. Both suspects fled the scene on foot after being unable to drive the car, which operated on a standard transmission.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office released video surveillance footage of the two suspects a few days after the incident. The footage showed a small car driving through the neighborhood around midnight, followed by one male in light-colored pants walking quickly along the street and another male with a backpack running in the same direction. The suspects were possibly dropped off for the robbery by a small white vehicle. A $5,000 Crime Stoppers reward was offered for information leading to the arrests and charges of the suspects involved in Pedro Aguilar's murder.
