Darrell Cleveland, a 45-year-old African American male, was a well-known dance teacher and choreographer from Jacksonville, Florida. On July 23, 2017, Cleveland was found shot in his vehicle after losing control and crashing into a parking meter in downtown Dallas, Texas. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m., and Cleveland's death sent shockwaves through the North Texas dance community.
