Andre Brookfield, 31, a Black man from St. Louis, Missouri, was killed in 2012 on the city’s north side along Shulte Avenue, in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. He was shot to death while inside a car that was parked in an alley off the street, a quiet back-lane space where the ordinary details of a neighborhood sit close to sudden violence.
