Floyd East Jr., a 48-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, was a dedicated police officer with the Texas Tech University Police Department in Lubbock, Texas. Tragically, he was shot and killed in the line of duty on October 9, 2017. East had only been with the department for five months at the time of his death. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, and his loss was deeply felt by his family, friends, and the community.
