Gabriel Diaz, a 25-year-old male from Laredo, Texas, tragically lost his life on November 2, 2017. Gabriel was well-known in his community as an honest and hardworking young man who always tried to help others. His murder sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, which was considered one of the safest areas in Laredo.
On the day of his death, Gabriel was shot multiple times outside his residence in the Towne North Mobile Home Park.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots around 2:51 PM and found Gabriel lying in a pool of blood when they came out of their houses. The police were immediately informed, and first responders declared him dead upon reaching the scene. An autopsy later revealed that Gabriel was shot six times in the back with a semi-automatic handgun.
The investigation quickly led to the arrest of Maurice Jerome Holmes, a 41-year-old resident of San Antonio, who was found at the scene with a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun that matched the one used in the murder. Holmes was taken into custody after a short chase, and he mentioned that his friend, Santos Pruneda, drove him to Gabriel's house on that fateful day. Further investigation confirmed Pruneda's involvement, and he was also arrested and charged with murder.
