Noah Grace Holcombe, a one-year-old girl of Caucasian ethnicity from Floresville, Texas, tragically lost her life on November 5, 2017, during the Sutherland Springs church shooting. She was attending the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs with her parents, Marc Daniel "Danny" Holcombe and Jennifer Massey Holcombe, when a gunman opened fire, killing 26 people, including Noah Grace.

The shooter, identified as Devin Patrick Kelley, had a history of domestic violence and had been court-martialed by the U.S. Air Force for assaulting his wife and stepson. Despite being court-martialed and discharged from the Air Force, Kelley was able to purchase firearms due to a failure in reporting his criminal history to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System .

In the aftermath of the shooting, Kelley fled the scene but was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident led to numerous lawsuits and investigations, including a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the families of the victims against the U.S. Air Force for failing to report Kelley's criminal history. The lawsuit resulted in a settlement of $69 million, one of the largest settlements ever paid by the federal government.

The Sutherland Springs shooting also prompted legislative changes aimed at improving the background check system and preventing similar tragedies in the future. The community and the families of the victims have shown remarkable resilience and strength in the face of such a devastating loss.

Noah Grace Holcombe's legacy lives on through the memories of her family and friends, who continue to honor her life and the lives of the other victims of this tragic event.
