On a quiet Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri, the life of Maurice C. Carter, a 58-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On October 12, 2021, officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of East 36th Street and South Benton Avenue around 12:40 a.m. following reports of a shooting.
