Sam Kyle James, a 31-year-old man from Houston, Texas, tragically died on May 1, 2018. His death was the result of a fatal shooting that occurred on April 30, 2018, in the parking garage of his apartment complex in the 600 block of Dairy Ashford. James, who was involved in a planned LSD drug deal, was shot in the head by Jace Weeks, a 24-year-old man from Huntington, Texas.

Weeks turned himself in to authorities shortly after the incident and was charged with murder. Durham was also arrested and charged, but he was later acquitted of the murder charges in June 2023. Weeks pleaded guilty to the murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
