Carlos Aparicio, a 57-year-old Hispanic man, tragically died on July 4, 2018, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was the owner of a road construction company located in the 200 block of Gilbert Circle. On that fateful day, Aparicio was found unconscious in his warehouse after being shot. Despite the efforts of emergency crews who rushed him to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Irving, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

56-year-old Jimmie Reynolds, had worked for Aparicio off and on for several years. On July 4, an argument erupted between Reynolds and Aparicio, which led to Reynolds allegedly shooting Aparicio. Following the incident, Reynolds fled to New Orleans, Louisiana. However, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service, Reynolds was tracked down and turned himself in to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He was subsequently arrested and faced murder charges.
