Darrel Eugene Bates, a 51-year-old African American male from Houston, Texas, was tragically found dead on August 6, 2018. Bates was discovered in the 8300 block of Howton Street in Northeast Houston with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The circumstances surrounding his death suggested that he might have been killed elsewhere and then moved to the location where his body was found.

Local homicide detectives launched an investigation into Bates' death, but despite their efforts, the case remains unsolved. Crime Stoppers of Houston offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and charging of any suspects involved in Bates' murder. The investigation has involved seeking new leads and appealing to the public for assistance, but no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.

The lack of resolution in this case is part of a broader issue of unsolved homicides in the Houston area in 2018. Bates' death is one of sixteen homicide cases from that year that remain open, with Crime Stoppers continuing to seek the public's help in identifying potential suspects.

The community and Bates' family have been deeply affected by his loss, and the ongoing investigation reflects the challenges law enforcement faces in solving such cases. Despite the passage of time, the hope for justice and closure for Bates' loved ones remains strong.
