Nikki Janelle Ortiz Enriquez, a 28-year-old Latinx transgender woman from Laredo, Texas, tragically lost her life on September 15, 2018. She was one of four women killed by Juan David Ortiz, a U.S. Border Patrol supervisor, during a killing spree. Ortiz, who was later arrested, allegedly targeted vulnerable women, including those involved in survival sex work. Nikki's body was found near a gravel pit along the I-35 highway.
