Rodney B. Kilman, a 50-year-old man from Tyler, Texas, tragically died on December 31, 2018, as a result of a shooting incident. The incident occurred at around 10:21 p.m. on the 10,000 block of County Road 283 off Hwy 271. According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Rodney Kilman and his wife, Tena Kilman, who is 47 years old.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found Rodney Kilman deceased just inside the front door, while Tena Kilman was found lying on the floor with serious injuries. Both Rodney and Tena Kilman suffered gunshot wounds that were consistent with evidence found at the scene. Tena Kilman called 9-1-1, stating that she had been shot and needed emergency medical services. She underwent surgery overnight and was reported to be in stable condition afterward.
Authorities have stated that no arrests were made in connection with the shooting. However, evidence suggests that the incident was related to an argument between Rodney and Tena Kilman at their residence. Investigators from the Smith County Sheriff's Office contacted the Smith County District Attorney’s Office and recommended that the case be presented to a Grand Jury for further investigation.
The tragic death of Rodney B. Kilman remains under investigation, and the case has been referred to a Grand Jury to determine if any charges should be brought forward.
