Terrance Lamont Kinard Jr., a 20-year-old aspiring hip-hop artist from El Paso, Texas, was fatally shot on January 26, 2019, near a house party on Mount Whitney Drive in Northeast El Paso. Known by his stage name T. Kizer Tha Dummy, Kinard was a talented rapper who left behind two small children and a caring family. Witnesses reported that Kinard was seen speaking to two unidentified Black men shortly before the shooting occurred.
Detectives believe that a weapon was brandished during an exchange, leading to Kinard's death.
The investigation into Kinard's death has been ongoing, with El Paso police and Crime Stoppers of El Paso releasing new details and urging anyone with information to come forward. In December 2023, a grand jury indicted eight suspects in connection with Kinard's murder. The suspects, including six men and two women, were charged with capital murder for retaliation and engaging in organized criminal activity. Among the suspects, one was arrested in Lubbock, Texas, while the others remained jailed at the El Paso County Jail.
The case has seen significant developments, with the release of mugshots of all 11 suspects facing capital murder charges in early 2024. The suspects include David Lee Moore, Miguel Aquino Ferrer, Marcus Kaleb Moore, Juan Manuel Noria, Obadiah John President, Jeremiah Deshawn Perkins, Bryanna Lovett, Deyone Quartaril Bridges, Savannah Mariyah Smith, Jacob Alexander Willis, and Joshua Cecil Davis. The trials for these suspects are scheduled throughout the year, with some set for jury trials in July and October 2024.
Despite the arrests and ongoing legal proceedings, the investigation remains open, and authorities continue to seek additional witnesses and information to bring justice to Kinard and his family. The case highlights the challenges of solving violent crimes and the importance of community cooperation in aiding law enforcement efforts.
