Martin Lopez Jr., a 26-year-old Hispanic male from Houston, Texas, tragically passed away on February 9, 2019. According to reports, Lopez died instantly from a gunshot wound to the face. The incident occurred when a woman, who had been in a long-term relationship with Lopez and had a history of physically abusing him, handed him a gun that accidentally discharged.
The woman claimed that the shooting was accidental, and she was not charged with any crime due to insufficient evidence.
Lopez's family, however, has been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the lack of justice. Despite their efforts, a Harris County Grand Jury decided not to issue an indictment.
